Another "fun" race on Saturday. "Fun" because it hurt like hell. I took the first corner way too wide (gotta work on that) and lost almost 50 feet to Cyril and Dan Gavere immediately. I dug deep and caught up to them just in time to have Dan surge away. Thinking I could catch him later, I took another line which ended up being a dumb decision. Cyril & I just watched him steadily open the gap on us. The harder I paddled, the farther he got away. I was already blown at the half way point and knew Dan was uncatchable. I settled in & simply tried to not blow up and keep Cyril from catching me.
The reversed course and high water proved to make the river slower for us... I was 1 minute slower this week, but felt like I worked twice as hard. Too little sleep, and too much gas station food/caffeine had me feelin' really funky.
Greg Gilbert won the stock class, with Kenny Wilson close behind.
I'll post complete results asap.
Here are some pictures thanks to Kenny Wilson, who also won the Coldwater Classic last week!
